Uplifted

If you're looking to revamp and revive tired, stressed skin, MV Organics Instant Revival is perfect, but if you want the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation, try an MV Organics salon treatment.

MV Organic facials are completely different to other facials. Not only are the products completely organic (as the brand name might suggest), the treatments take on a holistic approach to wellbeing...

I visited the MV Organics salon in Double Bay, Sydney, for a facial. Not only did it incorporate a blend of relaxing essential oils, it included reiki too. So instead of merely stepping out of the salon with fantastic feeling skin (although my skin did feel fabulous) I felt I had undergone an hour of therapy. I floated out of the salon feeling uplifted, with an entirely new outlook on life - a great way to start the New Year!
Following the stresses of 2005 and the hullabaloo of the festive season, I recently went in search of the ultimate New Year's beauty treatment.

After stepping into the serenity of MV Organics salon in Double Bay, Sydney, I soon realized my search was over. Although my hunt for complete inner harmony was just beginning.

I know, it sounds like mumbo jumbo, but have you ever stopped to consider why, in an age of technological and medicinal innovations, cancer, depression and psychological conditions are constantly increasing?

In the search for both mind and body wellbeing, more and more people are turning to alternative, holistic treatments. In fact, the day will come when such practices will no longer warrant the term 'alternative'.

Sharon McGlinchey founded MV in Sydney in 1994. She had been working in a managerial position and describes herself as "a manic A type personality - doing everything in top gear with the accelerator pressed to the floor!"

After embarking on a beauty therapist course in her late 20s, Sharon became disillusioned with mainstream beauty. However, due to her passion for yoga, meditation and the desire to create a nurturing and deeply relaxing treatment, with the help of her yoga teacher, Sharon created MV Radiance Therapy.

The Treatment

After a long day there's nothing more relaxing than having your feet cleansed in a bowl of warm water with fresh lemons - total bliss. And this is how my MV facial treatment began...

I hoped on the bed and sunk into a state of complete harmony while my face was massaged with beautiful-smelling essential oils. The MV facial is a very gentle treatment, which makes a nice change from the abundance of abrasive facials out there. If I were going to compare it, I'd say it was similar to an aromatherapy facial - very calming and soothing.

I was presented with a choice of two oils - one uplifting, the other calming. My chosen oil was then massaged across my décolletage, over my shoulders and down my back. I was told to focus on my breathing and encouraged to take a few long, deep breaths.

From this point on it's fairly hard to continuing explaining as I was taken to a place of complete tranquility. My mind ceased racing, my breathing became calm and every muscle in my body relaxed.

Sharon performed about half an hour of reiki on me before I was gently roused from my deep sleep. I couldn't believe I'd fallen asleep! How on earth was I going to write a review when I wasn't even awake?

Easy. Following the facial I emerged with an entirely different mindset. I not only felt peaceful and untroubled but I had a new, positive outlook. It was as if my mind and body had undergone a huge overhaul - what better way to start the New Year?
