Skin type may remain the same throughout your life but it can change with the natural ageing process or during menopause.

These possibly changes to skin type generally occur over a long period of time whereas a skin condition may come and go with the seasons, your diet, your work environment, prescribed medication or something as simple as a new skincare product.

If you are unsure of your skin type the following information may help better determine this:

Skin that feels dry to the touch, is fine with barely visible pores, flushes easily, feels tight after washing and occasionally flakes during the winter months is known as a ‘dry’ skin type.

Skin that feels dry on the cheeks but has more oil around the nose, chin and possibly even the forehead is commonly known as a ‘combination’ skin type.

Skin that has an oily shine for much of the day, has a more coarse look with visible pores is an ‘oily’ skin type.

A ‘normal’ skin type is neither dry nor oily and may only feel a little oily around the nose during the summer when it is hot or humid.

Mild skin conditions come and go and can include dehydration and sensitivity. Severe skin conditions and disorders are more stubborn and those we are most familiar with include acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis.
